30 Day Writing Challenge Day 8 (8/8/19)- 1 book I loved and 1 I didn't.

1 Book I loved and 1 I didn't-

The truth is, I don't love labeling a book as bad. I'm a firm believer that we can not decide for anyone else if a book is good or bad, so I had a little bit of a hard time with this one. Then, I couldn't decide which book to name as the one I "love" and which to label as the one that "I didn't". There were so many to choose in one category and so few in the other. But, finally, I decided on the two-ish.

1 book I loved-Or series, rather- Divergant

Yes. It's another dis-topian society series. I know. there's been a lot of those floating around recently, but this one is my favorite. Not only is the leading male in this series the first male character I have a huge crush on, more akin to a crush on a real person, but it was an amazing group of characters, environment and story. The entire series forms one story that moves fluidly and interestingly.

The entire series includes four books in total, allowing a strong beginning, middle and end without dragging the series on for too long. Honestly, when I finished the series the first time (yes, I've read it more then once), I wanted more!

And one book that I didn't-The Wizard of Oz

I know. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I was so disappointed when I read it. I, like so many others grew up with the movie. I had high hopes for the book, but I felt like the book was a huge let down. It could have been written so much better. I felt like the parts that I was looking forward to reading most were some of the biggest let downs in literary history (for me). Even the death scene of the Wicked Witch left me laughing at how poorly it was done then cheering. I closed the book (well turned off the e-reader I read it on) and wanted to get the couple of hours I had spent reading it back. It ended up being one of the only times I ever walked away admit that the movie was, in fact better.

So, there it is.1 book I loved and 1 I didn't. It was hard to choose one that I loved, but I'm happy with the decision I made. What about you? What's one book you loved and one you didn't? Let us know in the comments.
