For my exes
I could go the way you think I'm going to with this. I could choose an ed and pick apart all the ways he did me wrong. I could make a blanket post and tell them all the same thing like participating in "fun" habits such as abuse, cheating, lying and controlling don't make you cool. They make you jerks, miserable and result in you being alone. They don't make you a man but a boy pretending to be something he's not. I could say that I hope you all (as in my exes) learned enough to stop making those choices and have moved on to treating women as they should be treated and maybe even found your own happiness. While all of that is true, that's not what I really want to say to them.
No, what I want to say to them is....thank you. Thank you for teaching me so much like how I really deserve to be treated. Thank you for being part of the inspiration and source for strength which I now have. Thank you for being a stop, even if miserable, on my journey to where I am now. And thank you for being the reason I know how important it is to talk to my kids about relationships, how we treat other people and what it's okay to put up with so that my children can start at a higher level then I was when I was with you, and then you were when you were with me also resulting in fewer people getting hurt. Thank you for being the reason I know not to assume that my kids know these things just because they seem obvious and the content to use while teaching these lessons about decent, basic, humanity.
So thank you. Thank you for being a part of the reason I found my happiness and am where I am today. I couldn't have done it without you.
Now it's your turn. In your best PG13 or lower rated way, tell us what you'd tell your ex or exes if you had the chance?
